The short version
Everything you put in BakPak stays on your Mac. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads, and we never see your items, notes, clipboard, screenshots or recordings. We don't sell or share anything.
The BakPak app
Where your things are kept. Items in the bag, notes, snippets and settings are saved in a folder in your Mac's private Library (~/Library/Application Support/BakPak). Nothing is uploaded or synced. Items clear on their own after the time you choose in Settings (1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days) unless you pin them, and Empty BakPak clears them right away. Deleting BakPak and that folder removes everything.
Clipboard history. BakPak remembers text you copy so you can grab it again. It's kept in memory only, never written to disk, and gone when BakPak quits. Anything a password manager marks as secret is skipped. You can turn clipboard history off in Settings.
Screen recording and screenshots. With your permission (macOS asks first), BakPak records your screen or takes a screenshot only when you start it. The video or image goes straight into your bag on your Mac.
Reading text in images (Pro). BakPak reads the words in your images so you can search and copy them. This runs entirely on your Mac using Apple's built-in Vision framework. Images are never sent anywhere.
When the app goes online. Only when you activate or deactivate a license (see below), and when you drag an image in from a website: BakPak downloads that image from the site it came from, just like your browser would, so that site sees an ordinary request from your Mac. Links you open from the bag open in your browser.
Permissions. BakPak asks macOS only for what a feature needs: Screen Recording for recordings, and Open at Login if you leave it on. You can turn these off any time in System Settings.
Buying BakPak Pro
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. We receive your email address, what you bought and when, so we can send your license key, help if something goes wrong, and handle refunds. We keep this for as long as your license is active and as required for tax records.
Activating a Mac. A license works on up to 3 Macs. The first time you use it on a Mac, BakPak sends your license key and a random ID it made for that Mac to bakpak.fun, so we can count your Macs. The ID isn't your serial number or any detail about your hardware. After that, the license is checked on your Mac; BakPak doesn't keep checking in and doesn't track how you use the app. Deactivating a Mac in Settings removes its ID from our records.
The launch waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and the date you signed up. We use it only to email you when BakPak launches. We don't sell or share it.
Want to be removed? Reply to any email from us, or contact us, and we'll delete your address.
The try-it demo on this site
Anything you drop into the demo backpack stays in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and it's cleared every 3 minutes or when you leave the page.
This website
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs (like IP addresses) to run and protect the site. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what the app does with your data, we'll say so in the app's release notes first.
